Stories of hope
Jack* experienced instability in caregiving after the loss of both parents, leading to feelings of rejection and abandonment. With no consistent support from extended family and concerns of neglect, he was referred to Child Protection Services and placed at HopeHouse. There, he built positive relationships, improved his social skills, and worked on independent living. Jack actively gave back through volunteering, including at the National Day Parade, and showed emotional growth by opening up to staff while maintaining ties with relatives. He remains focused on his studies, aiming for a career in the social service sector.

Ricky* came to HopeHouse at just 16, deeply traumatised after witnessing severe violence. With the support of HopeHouse and caring individuals, he overcame many challenges, gaining strength and confidence. He completed National Service, celebrated his 21st birthday with us, and earned a place in university. With the help of generous supporters, he studied hard and recently graduated with honours — a remarkable journey from the boy we first met.

Samuel* grew up in a dysfunctional family where emotional support was absent, and years of gaslighting left him depressed. After being forced to leave home, he spent nights sleeping on HDB staircases before being referred to HopeHouse by another agency. Now 20, Samuel is receiving therapy and channeling his energy into positive pursuits. He’s in his second year of a fine arts diploma and works part-time to support himself. Despite many setbacks, he has stayed focused on his studies with support from well-wishers, and is now doing well academically and looking forward to a brighter future.
